Article Writing Tips - Do People Care About What You Write?

We article writers love to write. We could write all day if we wanted to. Doesn't even matter about what. Words just flow from our fingertips. But did you ever wonder if anybody even cared about what you were writing about? I know I have. I think about it all the time. Of course, that's the marketer in me. But what about you? Do you think about it? You should, because if nobody cares about what you're writing about, you're essentially writing for nothing. So how can you tell? Well, there are a few ways. I'm going to cover them here.

Probably the best way is simply to ask them. If you're a professional article writer, you must have a web page, correct? Well, at least I hope you do. If not, that's something you should get. Every writer should have a web presence. Anyway, on your web page, why not put a simple questionnaire with one simple question...what would you like to see me write about? Allow the answers to be posted right on the page itself. This is very easy to do if you simply get a blog. That way you can see, in real time, what people want you to write about. Yeah, it's so simply obvious it's overlooked.

Another great way to find out what people want you to write about is to go to the search engines and look up something like "What are today's hot topics?" See if you can find any discussion forums where they are discussing current events. For example, you know that with Obama just being elected our first African American President, there is tons of discussion on him. Think your readers wouldn't want to know YOUR thoughts on all this?

Finally, you can read what other people are writing about. If other authors are writing on a topic, it's a pretty safe bet that the topic in question is popular, especially if many people are writing about it. I mean let's face it, you're not living in a bubble (at least I hope you're not) and you can't possibly go through your day without knowing what's being discussed. Just turning on your TV alone can give you plenty of ideas. It's not the written word, but TV discussion is just as good.

Bottom line is this...there is NO reason not to be able to find things to write about that people WANT to read.

So just go out there and do it!
